Can't study no more...
5. You discover everyday tasks around your house that you thought never existed.
...And your starved to death
Who you gonna call?
Call Ammi!!
Okay that was slightly above the lameness limit, but anyway. Whether it's hunger issues, money issues or you've lost your pink socks (for the nth time); you know exactly who to call don't you?
The one, the only...AMMI!!! (Also known as Mummy, Mom, Mama, Amma...well you get the point)
What happens when she's not around?
Now since I have absolutely nothing to do these days (LIES!), here's another list:
The 'You-Know-Your-Mom's-Not-In-Town-When..' List: (in no particular order)
Also, this is not entirely based on my own experience so don't make assumptions :p
1. You're online 24/7 since no one's there to pull the plug out if it's been too long, or before meal-times, or bed-time...which brings me to number 2.
2. THERE IS NO BED-TIME!!!! Obviously this doesn't apply if you're already old enough to not have one (or are you?) :P
3. You get late for school. Thrice a week. That is of course before you start waking up at like 6:00 am.
4. "Yaar ammi ghar pe nahi hain." OR "Dude, my mom's out of town." OR "Ammi yaad arahi hain" OR "I want my mommy NOW!" Totally legit!
5. You discover everyday tasks around your house that you thought never existed.
Over: "So I watered all the plants..."
Mega Over: "Did you water the one in the lounge?"
Over: "That thing is real?"
6. "So what are we having for lunch/dinner?" is a question you ask around everyday.
7. K 'n' N (or any other company that makes frozen food) is often your hero. You feel like Masterchef every time you cook, but if its someone else..."Dude, you're no Masterchef. Chill!"
8. There's always that one person in the house who enjoys experimenting in the kitchen while the lady's out of town. So every once in a while, you get to have a surprise dinner (or a shock dinner) :P
Over Excited: "So I made Chanay ki Daal with Tinday for dinner! Who's starving?????"
Pooray din ka bhooka: "Ummm...you?"
9. You're either relieved that you don't get to hear "Pratigya ke mann ki awaz" or "Kaash main teri baiti na hoti" at night or you miss discussing "Navya ki shaadi" or the latest episode of Humsafar (or American Idol :P) with your mom.
10. While talking on the phone with your mom, you're often pretty clueless about what to say when she asks:
"Aur baita, is everything going fine?" Unless your good at pulling off the "Oh yea, everything's great!".
11. Random aunties are suddenly extra concerned about the way things go around in your house. Some of them are just concerned about you...as for the others...
"Aur baita, I saw you going somewhere last night. Dost ki shaadi hogi na?"
No actually I was going to the Emmy's dressed in a shararah. :)
12.You turn into Major Muscle a day before she has to come back.
13. Of course, it ain't all bad. Some of us (emphasis on "US") actually become more responsible. You actually figure out how to take care of things, how to make sure everything's done on time, what to do and what not to do and at the end of the day...we just realize how everything is in place when she's around.
